What's special about body control pilates?

For menopausal women, Body Control Pilates can help balance hormone levels and calm down the fight / flight reflex.  Once the body is hormonally balanced and cortisol levels drop,  the metabolism becomes more healthy and weight loss is achievable.  Reducing baseline stress levels restores your body’s ability to rebuild or maintain muscle mass, improve and maintain bone density and often improves energy levels.

When practicing Body Control Pilates, we place a higher emphasis on slow, precise and flowing movements for two reasons:

Firstly it is easier to build strength and control when the movements are slow and precise. Secondly, slow movement avoids cardio which is known to increase cortisol in the body.  Cortisol impacts healing and imbalances hormones which makes it more difficult for ladies of a certain age to lose weight & can accelerate the aging process..

Can I practice Pilates with an injury?

Once you’re ready, Pilates can be extremely useful for rehabilitating an injury, and strengthening the area to prevent further damage.  If that’s you , then I’d recommend booking a 1-2-1 or Duet class.  This will ensure that we have time to conduct a thorough physical assessment and formulate a bespoke programme that will address your problem areas and strengthen you to minimise the risk of a recurrence. These classes are held in the privacy of our home studio in Star, Anglesey.

I don't live on Anglesey. Do You Have Any Online 121 Programmes Available?

Absolutely.  Check out the Body Sculpt Intense Pilates programme. It’s a six week transformation for your mind and body and is available online.

Should I book a Group Class, 1-2-1 or DUET?

1-2-1 or Duet
These classes are held in my private studio in Star, Anglesey and are ideal for ladies who:

  • would like more individual attention and direction
  • need a bespoke programme to suit their needs
  • would like to use a Reformer,  or
  • have a chronic illness or injury that you need assistance with.
  • would like a multidisciplinary approach including hypnotherapy and somatic release (see the MELT Method)
Duet classes are ideal if you’d like to reduce the cost of 1-2-1 classes by booking with a friend.

Group Classes
My group classes are ideal for ladies over the age of 35, who are either complete beginners or pilates enthusiasts. We focus on slow precise movements using the Body Control Method which is the gold standard of Pilates.

Just bring your mat and I will guide you in your Pilates practice within a lovely community of ladies, max 12 per class.  There are classes in two locations across Anglesey to choose from.

Client Testimonials

“I attended one of Nerys' retreats in the tipi, I loved it! I tried the MELT technique for the first time - I wasn't sure what to expect, it was an unusual sensation rolling a ball under my foot and a roller under my back but the results were worth the funny feeling. Afterwards I felt very light and relaxed, and a lot of aches that I'd been ignoring were noticeably gone. Hoping to attend another soon!”
Elen Francaseca Holmes
“Nerys is a fantastic teacher, helpful and makes the most of a session in teaching a class. Plenty of session times to choose from. Haven’t done lots of pilates but am really enjoying the classes.”
Sian Lloyd-Ellis
“1-1 sessions with Nerys on the reformer are amazing. I can’t recommend them highly enough. I was so surprised at how quickly my core and flexibility improved with the sessions along with my confidence in my ability. That in turn increased my desire to try new and harder exercises. If you’re thinking giving it a try just go for it!”
